In 2023, Russian “demographers” noted population dynamics that were critical for the aggressor – a sharp decline in foreign immigrants, from 420,000 people to 62,000. However, this figure does not include persons displaced, including forcibly, from Ukraine, but this failure is, in principle, very painful for the Kremlin.

The fact is that over the past few years, the natural decline in the population has sharply increased in Russia, and since 2014 it has lost more than 3 million of its own population. At the same time, thanks to migration, the aggressor received about a million new “taxpayers” during this time, but now its size has drastically decreased.

Even according to “official statistics”, the number of “citizens of the Russian Federation” in 2023, with the illegal “registration” of the two millionth Crimea, is only 200 thousand more than in 2013. Moreover, now immigration to the Russian Federation, which “smoothed out” the demographic peak until 2021, is no longer “working” and the fall into the corresponding failure will only increase.

It is obvious that the aggressor is criminally hoping to “even out the balance” at the expense of the population of the occupied regions of mainland Ukraine, but under the conditions of occupation and ongoing large-scale aggression, the demographic situation there has become genocidal.

It has already been noted that in the front-line Crimea, where there are no hostilities now, the birth rate in 2022 fell to the historical minimum of the 21st century.
