For a couple of days, the aggressor’s propaganda has been enjoying the statement of Alena Muravyova, who calls herself the “supreme shaman of the southern federal district” and “representative of the supreme shaman of Russia” Kara-ool Dopchun-ool about the “mystical participation of shamans” in aggression against Ukraine.
Muravyova stated that “a total of 178 shamans are involved in the defense” and that “we are conducting rituals, and at the moment we are 80% sure that cities such as Sochi, Anapa, Rostov… we have closed from outside interference”. Let us recall that in December 2022 we wrote that, as part of such a show, the occupiers illegally brought a “Buryat shaman” to the Crimean Armyansk for the corresponding part of their war criminals.
Considering the previous intentions of the occupiers to “defend Crimea” with relics and a religious procession with the “burning icon” of Fyodor Ushakov, the PR campaign of the Tuvan Dopchun-ool itself is not surprising. Nor are his real motivations surprising: Dopchun-ool recently proposed including shamans and shamanism in all sorts of aggressor’s “interreligious structures” with corresponding “federal funding,” and his retinue is concerned about the “possible introduction of a tax on psychics”.
So far, federal propaganda is treating the “shaman issue” with “lukewarm interest”, but in Dopchun-ool everything is not as sad as it seems. The criminal “governor” of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev was unable to “present to the public” the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Vladimir Sokolov at the aforementioned “procession” on October 6, who had previously been promised to “participate in the event,” given the circulating information about his probable death in September; and here it is precisely the shamans who clearly have more “opportunities to communicate with the admiral’s spirits” than other aggressor’s religious servants.
