On June 28, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Statement to the UN, the IAEA, the EU, the OSCE, NATO, the Council of Europe and their parliamentary assemblies, parliaments and governments of foreign states on preventing a nuclear disaster at the Zaporoizhzhya NPP and countering the nuclear blackmail of Russia, the nuclear terrorist state
In the Statement, the parliament recalled that the undermining of the dam of the Kakhovka HPP is an act of environmental and man-made terrorism, which was deliberately planned and committed by the state – a nuclear terrorist, significantly increasing the risk of a nuclear incident at the Zaporszhzhya NPP due to a significant decrease in the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir, necessary for the operational needs of the Zaporozhzhya NPP.
The Statement also condemned the illegal actions of the occupiers to prevent the transfer of power unit No. 5 of the Zaporozhye NPP to a state of “cold shutdown”, which could lead to a humanitarian and environmental disaster with the release of radiation not only in Ukraine, but also in the Black Sea region and Europe, the consequences of which scale can be much worse than after the accidents at the Chernobyl NPP and the Fukushima-1 NPP. In fact, such a scenario described in the Statement puts both the occupied Crimea and all the waters of the Black Sea in an unconditional zone of long-term radiation contamination.
In the Statement, the Ukrainian parliament calls to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, and the private military companies that it finances as terrorist organizations and to ensure the inevitability of political, economic and legal consequences for Russia and its leadership for all war crimes and other illegal actions committed by it.
The Statement invites parliaments and governments of foreign states that have not yet decided on the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine or demonstrate neutrality, as well as states that continue to cooperate with Russia today, not to become accomplices in the war crimes of the aggressor state.
Let us recall that in 2022 we described the preparation of the aggressor for nuclear provocations with the alleged “fuel” of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, Donetsk terrorists and “North Korean specialists”. Now it is obvious that the criminal propaganda support of the nuclear terrorist attack will be separately carried out by Sergei Tolmachev, who was “transferred” by the invaders to Melitopol from Sevastopol in the January of 2023.
