On June 27, expert of our Association, Dr. Borys Babin took part in the discussion “Reparations for Ukrainians: At the Crossroads,” organized by the International Renaissance Foundation in the framework of the Human Rights and Justice Program.
That discussion, which united Ukrainian and foreign academicians and experts, as well as Ukrainian officials online and offline, highlighted the urgent issues and challenges of reparations to victims of Russian aggression and aspects of development in the international institutionalization of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.
Professor Babin exchanged opinions on that issue and informed participants about relevant activities of our Association, devoted to the reparation issues in Crimean cases. Special attention was held to relevant practice of the European Court of Human Rights on that issue, including perspectives of upcoming decisions, including interstate cases.
Also ARC’s expert raised issues of reparation of damage, caused by Russian aggression to the collective rights, including the rights of indigenous Crimean Tatars in the Crimea and Kherson Region, and described developments of relevant cases in Ukrainian jurisdiction and in the Council of Europe.
