As it was recently reported in the occupation “media”, the former illegal occupiers’ “minister of culture”, and an old henchman of the Aksyonov clan, Arina (Vera) Novoselskaya, who is now in jail from Moscow punishers for corruption in the construction of a puppet theater in Simferopol, has had her “sentence softened” somewhat.
Let us recall that the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow in November 2023 sentenced Novoselskaya to 10 years in prison and it is obvious that the “minister”, who has been behind bars since 2021, told the Russian special services many interesting details about her Crimean friends.
For the past year and a half, the Crimean “media” have been discussing the topic of Novoselskaya allegedly being sent to the front instead of serving her term, but this never happened.
The aggressor’s “media” was already talking about mitigating the sentence of the failed “military doctor” at the beginning of December 2024, but “without details”, and now, judging by the text published by the Moscow City Court, instead of 10 years of imprisonment, Novoselskaya will receive eight in a general regime penal colony, but in fact, taking into account the “pre-trial detention center coefficients”, she has 3.5 years of imprisonment left.
Naturally, in dealing with such a “political prisoner”, all the “legal formalities” from the aggressor can change, in any direction, at any time. But for now, the Kremlin clearly needs Novoselskaya, firstly, alive, without “frontline excesses”, and, secondly, not at large, but in a state “convenient for use”. And therefore, the idea of the “trial of the century” for the key Crimean collaborators of the Aksyonov clan, which the Kremlin has been hatching for the past few years and which was has clearly been postponed by them in 2024 “until the end of the war”, has not disappeared.
As they gossip about this in the “Crimean power corridors”, all the promises to release Novoselskaya turned out to be a dud, and now Aksyonov’s group has “serious selfish concerns” about their fate “if suddenly the shooting at the front stops”.
Similar concerns are observed by one of the “ideologists” of modern rashism, Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian military-historical society and an assistant to the Kremlin dictator since 2020.
It was his company “Meandr” that allegedly gave Novoselskaya 25 million for access to money laundering during the construction of a puppet theater in occupied Simferopol.
Let us recall that the “golden years” of former minister and deputy Medinsky, who “became famous” in the “peace negotiations” with Ukraine in 2022, have long passed, and now he is being wooed for such a “key role” as the head of the Russian Union of Writers, from which the Moscow jail basement is not so far away.
Obviously, in 2025, the strings of all participants in this “puppet opera” will be twitching especially nervously.
