On September 28, aggressor controlled “media” reported the “reanimation” of the case of the “Novik” industrial group, which specialized in “repairing ships” of the aggressor’s fleet and went bankrupt back in 2018. The aggressor’s Investigative Committe, among other things, recently initiated the arrest of functionaries in the insurance industry Alexander Kuznetsov, his mother Elena Kuznetsova and former financial director of Novik Olga Vanina “for fraud on an especially large scale” under “contracts for service and maintenance of ships and vessels” of the aggressor.

At the same time, the main person involved in the case is the former general director of the “Novik” group and former State Duma deputy Alexey Lyashchenko, who is now allegedly in Dubai. However, not completely “overwritten” previous publications about the scams of the mentioned “repairmen” say that these scammers were actually controlled by the former deputy commander of the aggressor’s Pacific Fleet for the rear, Rear Admiral Yuri Bailo, who organized for his protégé, regional Duma deputy Lyashchenko, the mandate of a state duma deputy from “United Russia” in Murmansk.

It is worth noting that the main scandal regarding “Novik” concerned the repair of the now well-known large landing ship “Olenegorsky Gornyak”, and it is possible that the aggressor is trying to link the seriousness of the current damage to this vessel in Novorossiysk with the “poor quality repairs” of Murmansk businessmen. Then, as a result of the 2015 scam, Bailo himself was “found guilty of illegal business,” and “he was sentenced to a fine,” from which he “was released due to an amnesty.”

It is noteworthy that the leniency of the punishment for the admiral was then linked to the status of his son, a high-ranking investigator in St. Petersburg, Alexei Baylo, known “for his extensive connections in the juctice fraud environment,” including “authoritative lawyer” Artem Begun and “Tambov” organized crime gangs. Among other things, “Novik”’s scams also concerned “contracts” with the “13th ship repair plant of the Russian Black Sea Fleet” in occupied Sevastopol, as well as the alleged “recreation of technologies for the repair and maintenance of gas turbine units” of aggressor ships designed before 2014 in Mykolaiv.
