As we already reported, the European Court of Human Rights rejected on July 18 the application in case 36958/21 on the suit of Russia against Ukraine filed in July 2021, in which, among other things, Russia complained about the blocking of the North Crimean Canal.
The ECtHR closed the proceedings due to Russia’s refusal to cooperate with the court and at the same time indicated that it “does not find grounds related to respect for human rights …which would require it to continue consideration of this application”.
For two days, the aggressor’s propaganda the kept silent on this issue, and only on July 20, the aggressor-controlled “Crimean media” began to spread the extravaganza in the form of a “briefing” from the infamous Maria Zakharova, who actually recognized Russia’s refusal to use the electronic communication system with the European Court and hastily invented for Strasbourg some kind of “duty” to write “diplomatic correspondence” to Moscow.
Margarita Sokorenko, Agent of Ukraine before the European Court, refuted the statements of the “Russian diplomats”, indicating that, among other things, Russia, even before the exception from the Council of Europe, refused to translate the materials submitted to her at the request of Strasbourg and that Russia did not respond to the court’s requests in its same case before it was excluded from the European Council, and that since April 2022, Russia has not responded to the entire diplomatic letters of the Committee of Ministers and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe regarding the European Court.
