On July 18, web resources of the European Court of Human Rights published the decision in case 36958/21 on the claim of Russia against Ukraine filed on July 22, 2021.
This was the only interstate complaint of Russia against Ukraine that the Russian Federation filed, with fake accusations of allegedly “administrative practice” of human rights violations by Ukraine, including “restrictions on the use of the Russian language”.
In this complaint, Russian also tried to attribute responsibility for the MH17 airliner crash to Ukraine, because Ukraine “did not close the airspace” and complained about the blocking of the North Crimean Canal.
The ECtHR closed the proceedings due to Russia’s refusal to cooperate with the court and at the same time indicated that it “finds no grounds relating to respect for human rights as defined in the Convention and the Protocols thereto which, …would require it to continue the examination of the present application”.
As Governmental Agent of Ukraine in Strasbourg, Margarita Sokorenko indicated, the ECtHR, among other things, clearly stated that Russia procedurally did not cooperate and ignored the requirements of the ECtHR regarding communication, the process of providing evidence and other things, which indicates unwillingness to properly support the stated statement.
