At the end of December, Ilya Ponomarev, the former “deputy governor” of Sevastopol “under the rule” of Dmitry Ovsyannikov, was appointed advisor to the governor of the Belgorod region on economics.
Ponomarev “worked closely” with Ovsyannikov back in Udmurtia, where at the beginning of 2016 he headed the investment development agency. And already at the end of the summer of that year, he was “parachuted” together with Ovsyannikov to Sevastopol, where at that time the clinch between the Chalykh clan and gauleiter Menyailo was ongoing.
Ponomarev began to supervise the “departments of finance, architecture and construction, state construction supervision and expertise, as well as the protection of cultural heritage sites” in the occupied city, and soon “became famous” for his attempts to “give into good hands” the “Izumrud” boarding house, the Sevastopol seaport, and the “state gas station complex”, as well as the disappearance of 2 billion as part of the tragicomedy of the construction of the “Yuzhnye” treatment facilities.
However, this “Udmurt landing force” could not find a “common commercial language” with Chaly’s group either. Then such a “valuable cadre” was transferred by the Kremlin to Rosatom, where Ponomarev “was engaged in the development of nuclear cities.”
It should be noted that Ovsyannikov’s subsequent “European adventures”, including his current arrest in London for attempting to circumvent sanctions, did not affect Ponomarev’s career in any way, which once again confirms that the former “Sevastopol governor” was sent to Europe specifically to implement the tasks of the Russian special services.
At the same time, it is quite remarkable that Ponomarev’s current appointment “coincided” with the resignation of Dmitry Gladsky, the first deputy governor of the Belgorod region, who was also a former “vice-governor” in Sevastopol under Ovsyannikov, but for a fairly short time, having “deserted” from the occupied city in June 2017.
However, Gladsky, a Muscovite, was sent to Sevastopol a year before Ovsyannikov, had no previous connections to him in his career in Surgut and Irkutsk, and represents a completely different financial and criminal group.
