As follows from the aggressor’s hysteria unleashed, on April 4, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) did not allow the Russian wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulayev to participate in the tournament in Baku to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris. Let us remind that in February this “two-time Olympic champion” was not allowed into Romania for the European Championships.
After the start of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, in March 2022, Sadulayev took part in a propaganda “rally-concert” in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, dedicated to the eighth anniversary of the beginning of the occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol, at which Putin spoke.
Let us recall that the IOC, in the criteria for admission to the Olympic Games in Paris, stated that it would monitor the participation of Russian athletes in demonstrations and political events; our Association previously demanded that both the IOC and international sports federations not allow persons who actively supported the occupation of Crimea to participate in Olympic sports events.
Let us add that yesterday’s hysteria of Sergei Aksyonov regarding the non-participation of “Crimean athletes” at the Olympics was joined by the occupiers’ criminal “Minister of sports”, Olga Torubarova.
This figure directly refuted the fake news from Russian sports bosses that “sport is outside of politics”, literally stating that “the interests of one person can never stand above the interests of the whole country. Moreover, at the Olympic Games the athlete represents not himself, but the country in which he grew up, was brought up, which did everything for him to become a great athlete”. Now it is obvious that the aggressor is doing everything to ensure that there are no international-level athletes at all on the territory under his control.
