On December 12, the “media” controlled by the occupiers began to spread the “good news” that the architect Vladimir Kusnitsin, once associated with the “Kerchstroy” structure, proposed using the territory of the Nizhne-Churbashensky tailings dump of the Kerch iron ore plant for an autodrome. Accomplices of the occupiers report that “the territory of the tailings dump is shaped like a bowl, so there is the opportunity to arrange various types of tracks there, and it is safe for spectators to watch. We can hold competitions there and attract athletes to our city”.

At the same time, it is reported that the iron ore plant itself previously “proved that there is no radiation there” and that now the project is allegedly temporarily hampered only by the fact that “there are not entirely peaceful objects located on the approaches”. Let us recall that in 2019, ecologists wrote that due to the extraction of sand from the Plavni tract on the territory of the Nizhne-Churbashensky tailings dump, part of the dam that prevented waste from entering the sea collapsed. Then it was reported that “the amount of arsenic in the tailings exceeds the maximum permissible concentration by 500 times; the content of antimony is three times, vanadium – three and a half times, chromium – 1420 times, phosphorus and iron – 341 and 370 times, respectively”.

It is expected that Kerch residents who are aware of the rich fate of the tailings dump write about this: “shouldn’t we have a dance on the Titanic?”; “build villas for your precious families on this plot of land and enjoy, they are all “worried” about people, our caring ones…”; “let him walk around the city, through the courtyards of Khrushchev-time and nine-story buildings – there are holes everywhere, huge puddles, clay and dirt… well, if you will launder money, then yes!!! a race track is needed”; “people knead clay after the rain, and he builds autodromes… let’s have a cosmodrome, what’s that?” At the same time, in the context of the propaganda of the “heroes” of Russian aggression, which is an eyesore for the townspeople, it is also indicated that the new radioactive race track will become “a good place for the healing of heroes” since “radiation stimulates natural selection”.
