U.S. Ambassador to the OSCE James S. Gilmore III called on Russia to release all political prisonersheld in Russia and occupied Crimea.
Talking about occupied Crimea, he mentioned Soviet persecutions and Stalin’s repressions.
‘We recall the bad history of the Stalin period and the former communist regime, that actuallydeported Crimean Tatars away from their homeland in order to bring about this consolidation; but theRussian government has left behind that regime, and looks toward the future with more optimismthan the old Joseph Stalin days’, Ambassador James S. Gilmore III said at the Permanent Council inVienna.
The U.S. Ambassador to the OSCE reiterated that his country fully supports Ukraine’s sovereignty andterritorial integrity.
