In framework of permanent co-operation with UN bodies and agencies our Association sent submisison to UN Special Rapporteur in the Field of Cultural Rights, Professor Alexandra Xanthaki for her next report on the right to participate in sports to the General Assembly to be presented in October 2024.
Let us remind, that some previous manipulations were noticed with opinions of Dr. Xanthaki about alleged “discrimination” of so-called “Russian sportsmen”, including issue of so-called “neuthral atheletes” at Olympics.
In ARC’s submission, prepared by Professor Borys Babin and published at UN web-sources now, issues of Russia’s violations the Olympic Principles and manipulations with right to participate in sports were described.
Association’s submission reminded that all “athletes”, who visited illegally Russia-occupied Crimea and others Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine from 2014, for any sportive or so called “social” or “politic” activities, and who supported Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, acted strongly against the Olympic Charter, and we stressed again that Olympic Principles must be realized and executed in this point.
ARC’s submission stated that Russia will definitely try to include in own team, even under umbrella of “neutral athletes” persons from Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine with clear criminal politic purpose. Such Russia’s illegal policy regarding the Crimea was established by European Court on Human Rights in case Filip Bedros Kirkorov against Lithuania, 12174/22, ARC stressed.
Association’s submission added, that human dignity is impossible to secure until the freedom from fear is violating and till Russian aggression will not stop on Ukraine, any Russian citizen, who does not stress personally the anti-aggressive position violate the article 1.2 of Olympic Charter.
Regarding so-called “discrimination” of Russian citisen on sports, ARC’s submission stated, that the issue of citizenship is not mentioned in article 1.6 of Olympic Charter regarding discriminative grounds, and the “national origin” is not a citizenship but, regarding the positions of UN Committees, the issue of ethnic ground.
So we called in our submission all UN authorized bodies and agencies, also as their member states, to pay a special attention to Russian illegal activities and provocations in area of sport with manipulation of right to participate in sport events and of fake “discrimination” of aggressor’s citizens.
