In framework of permanent co-operation with UN bodies our Association sent submission to the UN Special Rapporteur on the sale, sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children Fatima Singhateh, for her report to the Human Rights Council’s 55th session, that will be presented in March 2024. ARC’s submission, prepared by Borys Babin and Julia Sidorenko and published at UN web-sources, describes the relevant crimes committed against deported Ukrainian children in Russia-occupied Crimea. Submission points that local sources informed about sexual exploitation of such children by “administration” of “youth camps” of occupied Yevpatoris and a lot of propaganda media content was made by aggressor’s “authorities” with those children.
ARC’s submission gave proposals to the UN Special Rapporteur to combating the phenomena of child sexual exploitation and stressed that aggressor’s enforced “patronage” and “adoption” and keeping in orphanages with artificial change of children personal data, including names, origin, parents’ names, that make impossible effective research of deported children who may be used by aggressor’s structures in child sexual exploitation, must be monitored and counteracted.
Also, submission stressed, regarding conditions on hostilities and interstate conflict demands of Rome Statute, Geneva Convention and Additional Protocols, also as Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, must be taken into account regarding children who may be used in child sexual exploitation and abuse.
