On December 4, the aggressor’s propaganda announced plans to build a 135-megawatt Trudovaya gas turbine power plant on the occupied peninsula.
The project’s purpose, however, is clearly intended to further militarize the peninsula, but the construction timeline for the power plant has not been announced. The contractor is said to be “Technopromexport”, a sanctioned subsidiary of “Rostec”, and the power plant is said to be powered by six GTA-25 gas turbine units manufactured by “United Engine Corporation”, another sanctioned subsidiary of “Rostec”.
The units are based on PS-90GP-25 industrial engines, each rated at 22.5 megawatts, allegedly already used at the Saki thermal power plant, manufactured by “UEC-Perm Engines”, which was sanctioned by the European Union and the United States in 2024.
It should be noted that it was through “Technopromexport”, which has “branches” in Simferopol and Sevastopol, that the aggressor previously carried out the illegal construction and maintenance of the Balaklava and Tavricheskaya power plants, where “Siemens” turbines were supplied in defiance of sanctions.
As follows From the aggressor’s financial documents, hidden since the spring of 2022, significant funds were laundered through “Technopromexport” structures for 2021 and the beginning of the next year alone.
The “Sevastopol branch” then accounted for approximately 143 million rubles (4 “contracts”), and the Simferopol branch for another 86 million rubles (14 “contracts”).
220 million rubles were laundered for “maintenance” of the Balaklava power plant (10 “contracts,” including 139 million for “physical security”), and another 218 million rubles (6 “contracts,” including 174 million for “security”) for the Tavricheskaya power plant; it is clear that in subsequent years the figures were at least comparable.
It is highly likely that the new militarization facility on the peninsula will be built near the Tavricheskaya power plant, next to the reservoir ponds of the Maly Salgir floodplain.
The occupiers also previously announced their “approval” the project for the construction of the third power unit of the Tavricheskaya thermal power plant likely refers to this very project.
It should be noted that the “director” of both the Simferopol and Sevastopol “branches” of “Technopromexport” is simultaneously stated to be Pyotr Yekimenko, a former submarine officer who previously participated in the construction of the Balaklava power plant, further confirming the militaristic nature of the processes described above.
