During ongoing 78th Session of UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which started at 8 September in Geneva, its experts raised the concerns about rights violations in occupied Ukrainian territories.
Relevant issues were raised at September 10 during the discussion about Russia’s periodical “report” on alleged “realization” the UN Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and our Association sent to the UN Committee our observations on Russia’s gross human rights violation in the occupied Crimea, including the situation of ecologic catastrophe with tankers “Volgoneft” and it negative impact on social and economic rights.
Also relevant submissions were sent to UN Committee by the Centre of civil education “Almenda”, by the “Crimean Human Rights Group”, “Crimean Process” and “Human Rights Centre ZMINA”.
During the meeting UN Committee experts stressed that Ukrainian textbooks had been removed by aggressor from schools and there was no access to online Ukrainian education in Russia-occupied Ukrainian territories.
UN experts reminded also on the forced evictions of Ukrainian families, on the glorification of war and military indoctrination in Russia-controlled schools, on repressions against mother tongue education in occupied territories and on the destruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage sites there.
Predictably “Russian delegation” did not answered to UN experts on those questions in point of facts, soon the UN Committee will publish own mandatory concluding observations regarding relevant gross human rights violations by Russia.
