In recent days, according to a number of news agencies, Greece has been suffering from severe forest fires; in this situation, the aggressor-controlled “media”, including his “Crimean” propaganda, on July 24 began to spread the statement of the former Greek Minister of Defense Panos Kamennos that supposedly the fires “cannot be extinguished without the help of Russian aircraft”.

It is worth recalling that Kammenos headed the defense department in the cabinet of Alexis Tsipras from January 2015 to early 2019, and he got to this post as a politician exclusively as the leader of the populist “Independent Greeks” party, then a junior partner of Tsipras’s Coalition of the Radical Left SYRIZA.

However, in 2019, the “Independent Greeks” suffered a crushing defeat in the parliamentary elections, without getting into the Greek legislature. At the very beginning of his “ministerial career”, Kammenos already managed to “distinguish himself” by directly disseminating the Kremlin’s criminal “Crimean” narratives, saying that allegedly “the Greek population in Crimea was attacked” by the Ukrainian authorities.

At the same time, Kammenos then said bluntly that he “discussed this issue with Patriarch Kirill” and that “we believe in the same values”.

Naturally, no observer has ever recorded the infringement of the rights of the Crimean Greeks by the Ukrainian authorities; further, life itself gave a tragic response to such fabrications, when in the spring of 2022 the Kremlin aggressor killed many thousands of Greeks of the Azov region during the destruction of the civilian population of Mariupol and its environs by the Russian army.
