On May 17, Anatoly Tsurkin, an accomplice of the criminal Sergei Aksyonov in the field of “cash for traffic flow facilitation”, stated that allegedly “the reconstruction of the checkpoint between the Kherson region and the Crimean peninsula has begun.”
Characteristically, the collaborator admits that this route, “without taking into account the ferry crossing, which transports not all categories of goods, remains the only possible one”, thereby refuting the statements of the Kremlin propaganda about the alleged “complete restoration” of the illegal “Crimean Bridge”, stating that in “within the security framework, this is not yet possible”.
Moreover, the main part of the so-called “reconstruction” was, according to Tsurkin, the demolition of objects at the “Chongar” crossing point on mainland side, built by Ukraine.
Let us recall that the improvement of this object, which began actively from the end of 2019 in the period before the start of the massive Russian invasion, was accompanied by active expert controversy.
In March 2020, the Ukrainian authorities announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on this issue to organize a comfortable crossing of the administrative border between the relevant ministries, the regional administration, “Ukrzaliznytsia” and the private structure “Socar Energy Ukraine”.
