Since morning of May, 1 aggressor’s propaganda started to disseminate statements of Kanchan Gupta, Senior Adviser of India’s Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, done by him in “Twitter” regarding caricatures about explosions on oil depot in Russia-occupied Sevastopol.
Gupta declared that as “Indian goddess Ma Kali has been caricatured on a propaganda poster” it allegedly against “Hindu sentiments”. But of course case is much deeper than sentiments as Gupta “reminded” such alleged “sins” of Ukraine that he publicly “stressed” on second day of Russia’s broad-scale aggression, February 25, 2022, as Ukraine’s “push for UN intervention on Kashmir” and “vote for UNSC sanctions against India after 1998 nuclear tests”.
So, if to believe Mr. Gupta, major “sins” of Ukraine, except caricatures are in demanding from states of Southern Asia to execute international law. But the story of this “old-school” journalist itself is extremely interesting, as he was appointed to the Ministry in 2021 but his politic career started forty years ago.
He was assistant of MP Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former prime minister in period when India carried out the mentioned Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998. Also he worked in close association with national security advisor Brajesh Mishra on foreign affairs and security issues.
Mishra is known for its pro-Russian position for a decades, as in 1981, working in India’s mission in UN he disagreed with official position on the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and resigned state service for 5 years. Kanchan Gupta itself was sent twenty years ago to Egypt as director of the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture in Cairo where he had close connection with Russian “diplomats”.
As our Association commented on this issue in Gupta’s social networks, “tt is too exciting to hear from You emotions regarding Russian aggression in Ukraine. Of course not about killed children, raped boys and girls, thousands of tortures, food crisis and nuclear threat. But about caricature on oil depot explosion in Sevastopol. Of course India use Russian oil and someone use bribes from Russian oil. But mentioning about 1998 nuclear tests – thank You that You confirm Atal Bihari Vajpayee was surrounded by Russian agents”.
