On March 8, in the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, a meeting was held between its leadership and representatives of the International Republican Institute of the USA, Timothy Stoutsenberg and Ayar Memetov.
During the meeting, Eskender Bariiev’s concept of developing educational programs to prepare youth and internally displaced persons for the future reintegration of Crimea, as well as programs to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, were discussed.
It should be reminded that the funding of the Institute’s activities is carried out by the US government, the US Congress, as well as proceeds from private corporations and foundations. The Institute conducts training programs for political parties, representative authorities and other organizations directly involved in the implementation of an open political process.
“Given the importance of these issues, we hope that soon everyone will get acquainted with the results of joint work,” Eskender Bariiev, head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center (CRC), emphasized on this occasion. It is also worth noting that at the strategic forum “The Future of Crimea”, organized by the CRC, the issue of the educational future for the Crimean residents was also considered.
Among other things, the forum stated the impossibility of working in the de-occupied Crimea of local higher education personnel involved by the aggressor in illegal “educational institutions”, as well as the limited capabilities and resources of Ukrainian higher education in this area.
Thus, the organization of mass education of Crimean residents in European and American universities as part of the reintegration of the peninsula can become a key form of support for Ukraine’s partner countries.
