In the framework of permanent cooperation with the United Nations’ institutions, our Association sent the submission to the UN Independent Expert on sexual orientation and gender identity, Graeme Reid, for his next report to the Human Rights Council about gender violence and discrimination experienced by women worldwide.
The ARC’s submission, prepared by Olesya Tsybulko and Anna Prykhodko and publishsed by the UN official web-sources now, reminded on the previous statements of the UN Independent Expert that the gender-diverse people in conditions of Russian aggression are vulnerable to acts of stigmatisation, harassment and violence, whether such acts are opportunistically motivated, connected to larger social discriminatory patterns, or the result of explicit, targeted political repression.
The ARC’s submission also reminded on the UN Independent Expert’s Report A/80/183, which stressed regarding those issues that an increasing number of states have adopted or proposed so-called “propaganda” or “promotion” laws that prohibit, and in some cases criminalize, the sharing of information about gender identity.
The ARC’s submission reminded on the statements of the criminal “Crimean speaker” Vladimir Konstantinov that contained hate speech against gender minorities and fakes about alleged “human incubators” in European states and “people will be raised on farms, to receive hermaphrodites”.
The ARC’s submission stressed that the militarization of Russia-occupied Crimea makes a strong negative impact on issues of gender discrimination. Criminal aggressor’s “administrations” in the occupied territories are urgently fulfilling the criminal instruction to “create cells” for the so-called “Russian movement of children and youth” to enforce the degree of the corresponding criminal aggressor’s Nazi and war propaganda and hate speech.
The ARC’s submission added that the issues of illegal activities of mercenaries, paramilitary structures, militaristic and racist propaganda against women and girls in conflict zones and zones of foreign effective control must be reflected in the UN reports, as well as the aspects of state terrorism and financing of terrorist groups and activities, disinformation, hate speech, racial discrimination, and genocidal policy that are against women and girls.
