On December 22, our Association’s expert Borys Babin took an active part in the forum “Legal Hub: Legal Clinics in Action. Experience. Practice. Community”,
held in Odessa by the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine and the public organization “The Tenth of April”. During the event, Professor Babin discussed with the management and students of legal clinics of educational institutions in Southern Ukraine aspects of the role of these institutions in providing assistance to victims of Russian aggression, including persons displaced from the occupied Crimea.
The ARC expert shared the approaches developed by our organization to identify strategic legal cases within the framework of assistance to victims of aggression,
outlined the relevant challenges associated with both the involvement of lawyers and human rights platforms in these processes, and the duration of the relevant processes at the national and international stages.
The use of modern international standards of human rights and humanitarian law in the work of human rights defenders, officials and lawyers working with legal clinics, including those developed in relation to the events of Russian aggression at the UN, OSCE, and Council of Europe levels, was also discussed.
