A recent investigation by our Association revealed the activities of such global structures as “V.Ships”, “Marlow Navigation” and “CMA CGM” in the aggressor-controlled territory.
An analysis of the relevant crewing activities of the above corporations indicates their involvement both in the crewing of Russian tankers of the “shadow” fleet and in working with sailors from the occupied territories of the Ukraine, and at the same time, the systemic involvement of the Russian top management of these crewing corporations in both the relations of global maritime business and the activities of the Russian management system of the maritime industry, which is closely intertwined with the activities of the Russian intelligent services, which are constantly increasing their activity.
Among other things, the activities of the “Marlow Navigation” structures in the occupied Crimea and the interaction of the aforementioned corporations with Crimean seafarers were analyzed in detail, contrary to the requirements of UNCLOS, MLC, STCW and comprehensive IMO resolutions on maritime safety, approved after the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression.
In this regard, we sent relevant notifications to all authorized international structures, maritime administrations, port control memoranda, classification and insurance structures, as well as to the units of the European Union and democratic countries responsible for sanctions policy, and to the law enforcement agencies of the relevant states, namely Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, United Kingdom etc.
Relevant communication on these issues, in particular in terms of exposing violations of existing and introducing new sanctions and investigating relevant facts of corruption and of Russian influence in civilized jurisdictions, will be continued.
