From June 16 to 18, the European Union and a number of other civilized jurisdictions, including Australia, Great Britain and Canada, published new sanctions lists related to Russian aggression, which included dozens of vessels of the Russian tanker fleet.
Let us recall, that after the disaster on December 15 last year with the Russian tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, as a result of which an unprecedented pollution of the Black Sea with fuel oil occurred, our Association sent reasoned information to the authorities of many civilized countries.
We demanded that the owners and insurers of the mentioned tankers be included in the sanctions lists, as well as Russian classification societies whose activities created the conditions for the environmental disaster that occurred; previously, the EU and New Zealand structures informed us about the investigations being conducted on this matter.
It is therefore not surprising that the updated sanctions lists of Canada now include the owners and charterers of the tankers that sank in the Kerch Strait, namely the companies “Kama Shipping” and “Volgatransneft”.
Our work to include in the sanctions lists all the key structures of the aggressor, involved in the Black Sea environmental disaster, will be continued.
