As we wrote earlier, expert of our Association, Professor Borys Babin took an active participation in OSCE II Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting, that was hold on May 5 and 6 in Vienna.
During this event, Dr. Babin had a fruitful discussion about modern challenges of violation the freedom of peaceful assembly with reseachers from many OSCE states and discussed with them current situaitons with attacks againt rallies in Georgia, Serbia and Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine.
Regarding those situation Professor Babin stressed attention on such form of provocation as forced meetings, whose participants are gathering by authorities against their free will, for propaganda purposes or to counter the real assemblies.
ARC expert added, that Russian invaders organise permanently such forced meetings and rallies in occupied territories of Ukraine, as part of militarisation and indoctrination, from rallies on May 9 to meetings on April 21 on anniversary of Kremlin’s discriminative act against Crimean Tatars, to counter the meetings on anniversary of deportation at May 18.
That issue started a fruitful discussion as Meeting’s event “The State of Freedom of Peaceful Assembly in the OSCE Region” convened by OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, where the Report on Monitoring of Freedom of Peaceful Assembly in Selected OSCE Participating States (2022-2024) was discussed.
