Upon invitation of European Security Working Group our Association’s expert Dr. Borys Babin took online participation in 8th annual Working Group’s workshop “European security cooperation in times of European and global elections”, held on January, 17.
This workshop, held in Plymouth, was devoted to Re-election of Donald Trump as US President, uncertain political situations in countries such as France and Germany, a new Labour government heading the UK in the post-Brexit phase of its foreign policy, a Russian aggression against Ukraine and unsettling changes taking place in the Middle East.
During the workshop relevant reports were done by academicians from Lancaster University, Leeds University, Sheffield University, University of Bristol, University of Edinburgh, University of Plymouth, University of Southampton, York University, Regent College London.
Also workshop gathered researchers from Barcelona Institute of International Relations, Dublin City University, European University Institute, Indiana University, Jawaharlal University (New Delhi), Maynooth University (Ireland), Maastricht University, National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), University College Cork, University of Haifa, University of Oslo, University Sorbonne Nouvelle, University College Cork, University of Turin and Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
Communicating with distinguished workshop participants, Professor Borys Babin recalled key aspects of Russia-committed challenges for democracy and fair elections, in which Russia uses occupied territories of Ukraine, including the Crimea, for relevant propaganda and intelligence activities, with relevant examples of Russia’s interference into elections in Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova and U.S.
