On November 27, the IV Strategic Forum “The Future of Crimea” began in Svalyava, Transcarpathia, in which experts from our Association Borys Babin and Anna Prykhodko took part. The Forum is held by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center with the support of the Representative Office of the “Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom” in Ukraine and it brought together representatives of the Ukrainian academic community, experts from the Expert Network of the Crimean Platform, public activists and journalists.
Among the scientists at the Forum were doctors and candidates of sciences in the fields of law, geography, economics, politics, sociology, history and pedagogy. As part of the introductory part of the event, Professor Babin presented to the Forum participants an analysis of the current state of the normative reflection of the activities of the International Crimean Platform in international documents and the legislation of Ukraine, in order to work out further proposals for improving the institutionalization and efficiency of the Platform’s work.
“In general, the reflection of the activities of the International Crimean Platform in the sources of international law remains extremely episodic. More or less systematic mention of the Platform can be traced in the resolutions of the UN General Assembly, which are approved on the Crimean issue,” – emphasized Borys Babin.
The participants were presented with the results of the work of the previous three Strategic Forums and draft internal policies of the Expert Network of the Crimean Platform.
