On April 26, an expert of our Association, Borys Babin, took part in the meeting of the International Council of Experts on Investigating Crimes Committed in the Conditions of Armed Conflict of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine under the direction “Combating Crimes Against the Environment”.
Professor Babin and other International Council of Experts’ members discussed the 2024-2026 draft Strategic Plan for the implementation of the powers of the prosecutor’s office in the field of criminal prosecution of war crimes against the environment and ecocide.
At the meeting, specific proposals were made regarding the improvement of the strategic plan in terms of structuring and programming of relevant international cooperation, methodical work and further organizational measures.
Among other things, the aspects of planning the implementation of the proper and effective procedural status of the victims of crimes against the environment, committed by the aggressor, including the Crimean cases, and the strengthening of information coverage and media support of the environmental prosecutor’s office activities in the context of relevant investigations were discussed.
