As already reported, on March 28 in Lausanne, the IOC Executive Committee adopted another clarification of the organization’s position regarding the admission of “Belarusian and Ukrainian athletes” to the Olympic events.
These clarifications did not cover a complete ban on the participation of representatives of the aggressor, but at the same time they postponed the “final decision” on the 2024 Olympics and shifted part of the responsibility regarding the admission of so-called “neutral athletes” to international sports federations.
In addition, the IOC recommended not allowing athletes associated with the “armed forces and national security agencies”, as well as those who support the aggression of Russia against Ukraine, including public statements, demonstration of symbols and participation in various events, one way or another connected with Russian aggression.
The actual such restrictions and the creation of appropriate control under the auspices of the IOC are consonant with part of the reasonable proposals of our Association, as well as the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, sent to the IOC in advance.
Predictably, the aggressor’s propaganda and the occupiers’ structures staged a large-scale hysteria on this occasion.
Thus, the criminal “Crimean speaker”, Konstantinov, said that after the decision of the IOC, the occupiers’ criminal “state council” “will prepare an appeal to the sports leadership of Russia” and propose that Russian Federation withdraw from the IOC, stop participation in Olympic events and “focus on the development of sports inside”.
It is not necessary that the aggressor will take just such a position, but it is obvious that the work done by democratic forces in the IOC has already crushed the aggressor’s criminal plans to put Olympic sports at the service of Russian Nazism.
