As the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine reported on May 13, the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea applied to the Council regarding the placement of a special logo for television screens on May 18, the day of remembrance of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
The National Council reminds that this day is determined for the memory of about 200 thousand Crimean Tatars, who in May 1944, as a result of a planned operation, were deported by force to remote regions of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and the Russian Federation. Many of them died in the first years after deportation as a result of starvation, mass diseases, bullying and hard labor in places of special settlements.
The memory of this and other fateful tragic events in our history should form and strengthen our modern self-awareness and self-identity, the National Council emphasizes, placing a link to a graphic image of the logo in various formats.
