As we have repeatedly written before, the Russian invaders have failed to achieve the illegal “maximum re-registration of real estate” in the fake “Russian registers” from the residents of occupied Crimea, despite repeated propaganda campaigns, including those concerning dacha and garage cooperatives of Crimean inhabitants.
Local residents correctly understand that any appeals to the occupiers regarding fictitious “re-registration” are not only illegal and may lead to the loss of legitimate Ukrainian documents for real estate.
They also carry the risk of an immediate “review of the situation,” naturally “in favor” of the occupying “administration” and specific collaborators who received information about “valuable resources” from trusting owners.
In 2022, an example of such a reckless “re-registration initiative” was the Sevastopol garage cooperative “Center-2,” created before the occupation, back in 1997.
Since 2014, its owners were in no hurry to submit their legitimate Ukrainian documents for fake “re-registration” to the occupiers, until in June 2022 a certain Vladimir Bichul “took over” and for some reason decided to “conduct” a fake “legalization of ownership rights.”
After that, “demolition notices” appeared on the garages, and the demolition proceeded quite quickly, including 280 garages and a number of “capital structures” where 11 families with young children lived. Naturally, no one offered any “compensation” to the garage owners.
And now the fake “department for land and property relations” has once again demanded that Sevastopol residents “register ownership of their garages and the land plots beneath them,” stating that this opportunity “is only available until September 1, 2026.”
At the same time, the illegal “officials” admit that the number of applications submitted since the end of 2021 is minimal, amounting to only a few hundred, while the number of garages is measured in thousands.
The reason for this situation is “officially” stated to be “the prolonged absence of a city general plan, as well as land use and development regulations.” In reality, residents understand that an attempt to “re-register” a garage will very likely lead to its “confiscation,” and also, guaranteed, to considerable expenses on corrupt bribes.
