As the occupation “authorities” decided to “please the population”, in connection with the “entry into force on March 1, 2025” of the December prescript of the aggressor’s government and the “new regulation on the protection zones of cultural heritage sites”, now many such sites “are deprived of special protection zones”.
In this regard, the representative of the so-called “Sevastopol branch of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments” Stepan Samoshin said that “the new amendments primarily cancel the protection zones of monuments on the territory of sightseeing places”, and in Sevastopol this will affect Chersonesos Taurica, the fortresses of Chembalo and Kalamita, and cover “almost the entire Heraclean Peninsula” and “all of Balaklava”.
“It is clear that these changes are in the interests of developers, to make it easier to build”, “this is the main point, why all this was adopted”, Samoshin added.
Also, the “new amendments”, among other things, “cancel the protected zones for necropolises, war memorials, mass graves and territories around monumental monuments.”
And even the objects of the Ship Side, such as the “Monument to the sunken ships, monuments to Nakhimov, Kazarsky and the Memorial in honor of the heroes of the second defense of Sevastopol”, whose “protected zones are preserved”, are in fact “not protected by anything”.
As city residents write on this matter on social networks, “and what will the place, the city where we are now now be called soon? After all, it no longer resembles Sevastopol.”
