On October 1, ARC expert Borys Babin spoke at the roundtable “Ukraine and Moldova — Prospects for a European Future…”, which was held in Kyiv by the Institute of World Politics together with the public organizations “Ukrainian Center for Peacebuilding” and “Institute of Democratization and Development with the assistance of the Ukrainian state enterprise “General Directorate for Servicing Foreign Missions” .
The event was attended by diplomats from Moldova and Romania, Ukrainian MPs, representatives of the expert community and leading Ukrainian and foreign media. The roundtable discussed the results of the parliamentary elections in Moldova and their significance for Ukraine, security challenges in the Black Sea basin, and the formation of a roadmap for the development of relations between Moldova and Ukraine.
In his speech, Professor Babin presented the relevant achievements of our Association in the field of Black Sea security and cooperation, the challenges of de-occupation and reintegration of territories, including Crimea, and he paid special attention to further algorithms of cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova in the mentioned dimension.
During the event, a professional discussion was held on the results of the parliamentary elections in Moldova and Russia’s attempts to interfere in the electoral process in violation of international law in order to have a destructive influence on the expression of the will of voters.
The participants discussed the security challenges in the Black Sea region, which since the beginning of the military occupation of Crimea have become a radical Russian military threat to the region and to a number of states that are currently members of the North Atlantic Alliance, in particular Romania and Bulgaria.
