On April, 7 our Association’s experts, Professor Borys Babin and Dr. Anna Prykhodko participated in the online discussion “Kyiv Connection: The Strategic Use of Violence against Civilians”, held by Ivan Gomza, head of the department at Kyiv School of Economics, and Eugene Finkel, political scientist and historian at Johns Hopkins University.
Discussion highlighted the aspects of Russia’s strategic use of violence against civilians as a genocidal framework of aggression against Ukraine and it explored features of the Russian army that are put forth to explain the violence, from its social composition to operational features and a “metropole-colony” mindset.
Dr. Babin reminded participants about UN General Assembly’s resolutions 77/204, 78/190 and 79/160, amended resulting in our Association’s activities, by “alarm that Russia “has sought to ‘justify’ its territorial aggression against Ukraine on the purported basis of eliminating neo-Nazism.”
So our Association’s experts initiated discussion on issue of the possible special international proceeding on Russia-committing genocide in Ukraine, especially taking into account such genocidal feature of Russia-committed deportation of Ukrainian children to Crimea and Russia with declared goal as “reeducation of Ukrainian neo-Nazi”.
