On March 16, at the invitation of the organizers, our Association expert Borys Babin took part online in the conference “Ukraine, Georgia and the Modern World”, held by a number of public, political, expert and human rights structures in Tbilisi.
At this event, our Association expert pointed out the challenges to the global legal order that were generated by the Russian aggression against Georgia in 2008 and the subsequent aggression against Ukraine.
In his speech, Professor Babin described the main problems and results of legal counteraction to Russian aggression in the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, focusing on the issues of the subjectivity of victims, the tactics of relevant interstate processes and the issues of reparations and compensation.
The expert especially emphasized the need to strengthen further interaction between Ukrainian and Georgian experts in working with OSCE bodies, including human dimension events, as well as with expert structures and rapporteurs of the UN Geneva Office.
