On October 30, experts of our Association Borys Babin and Anna Prikhodko took part in the presentation of the results of the III Strategic Forum “The Future of Crimea” organized by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
Representatives of more than 20 embassies and international organizations accredited in Kyiv were presented with the content of the projects of the policies of the Expert Network of the International Crimean Platform, developed at the Strategic Forum and based on its results.
In addition to Professor Babin, the speakers at the event were the coordinators of the Expert Network’s working groups, the head of the Center Eskender Bariyev and Professor Evgeny Khlobistov, as well as associate professors Olga Volyanyuk and Anastasia Antonyuk and the lawyer of the Center Lyudmila Korotkikh.
The subject of discussion was the English-language versions of the draft Regulations of Expert Network, of the Non-discrimination and Equality Policy, of the Policy on the Formation and Planning of the Cost of Expert Papers, of the Expert Paper Reviewing Policy, of the Policy on Evaluating the Effectiveness of Expert Papers and of the Expert Engagement Policy.
“I must emphasize that the real result of such expert work is expert works and documents. All international bodies and structures, such as the Council of Europe or the UN or the OSCE and others, build their expert activities not only on meetings and discussions, but also on documents that the expert provides to statutory assemblies and secretariats. This is the main task of experts – to provide documents,” Professor Babin stated for the participants of the event.
“And as we can see, not only has the entire structure of the International Crimean Platform not yet been institutionalized. But if we look at the real result of the work of the expert community of the Crimean Platform, we will see certain political developments. We will see a lot of good statements, but we do not see expert work. Therefore, the only way to fix this is to discuss how we should provide organizational and material support for this activity,” added the expert of our Association.
