In framework of permanent coperation with UN bodies our Association sent submission to UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues Professor Nicolas Levrat for his report to the UN General Assembly.
ARC’s submission, prepared by Professor Borys Babin and other experts, and published now at UN web-sources, reminds on deaths and enforces disappearances of ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea since 2014.
ARC’s submission, also focused on decision of International Court of Justice in case 166 about Russia’s violation its obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination by the way in which Russia destroyed school education in the Ukrainian language in the Crimea.
Exactly the Russian aggression and its regime at Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine are the main challenges and barriers that prevent persons belonging to ethnic groups to participate effectively in cultural, religious, social, economic or public life, submission stressed.
In relevant Report A/79/169 Prof. Nicolas Levrat strongly emphasizes that minority-suitable institutional design needs to be prioritized in peacebuilding contexts. Relevant cooperation of our Association for protecting rights of ethnic groups at the occupied territories will be continued.
