In August, the aggressor’s propaganda decided to “please” the population of the occupied peninsula, declaring that “more than 100 hectares of forest forests will be restored in Crimea by 2036.” Such a fairly modest indicator is given with reference to the “deputy minister of ecology and natural resources” of the occupiers, Alexander Bereznev.
Bereznev is also quoted as saying that “in total, there are about 7.56 hectares of forest protection plantations in Crimea.” Here, we are probably talking about seven thousand hectares, and in this context it is worth reminding that before the occupation of Crimea, the forest area was about 16 thousand hectares, that is, it has shrunk by at least half over the last decade.
Let us remind, that the occupiers massively destroyed forest belts during the construction of the “Tavrida” highway, after which they promised to “plant 200 hectares of a protective belt along the road”, which did not happen.
At the same time, Bereznev’s “foresters” are clearly “busy with an important matter”, however, not with the restoration of forest belts, but with the “registration of rights” to them for “subordinate institutions”. These “protectors of trees” write off money for such a vague formula as “reconstruction of forest belts”, which clearly does not oblige them to anything, however, such “cosmetic care” is limited to one or two hundred hectares per hour.
With the systemic water crisis created by the aggressor in Crimea, the occupiers’ so “careful and reverent” attitude towards the Crimean forest belts, that hold water and soil, means only one thing – they clearly do not intend to stay on the peninsula until 2036.
